Getting a sweet deal on a solid product is always a good thing, especially in an economy like this one. The Sharp Aquos LC-52D85U ($2,099.99 direct) is one of the least expensive LCD HDTVs you can get that features detail-enhancing 120-Hz display technology. What\'s more, the set earns high marks for energy efficiency and also sports a slew of video connections that let you take full advantage of its big, 52-inch 1080p screen. And although the set lacks the integrated multimedia capabilities offered in other manufacturers\' more expensive models, its low price and good picture performance make it a compelling deal. The most recent additions to Sharp\'s HDTV lineup offer excellent out-of-the-box energy efficiency, thanks to the use of an ambient-light sensor that automatically adjusts the LCD\'s backlight level according to room lighting conditions. Using default settings, the LC-52D85U\'s estimated operating cost of $4.08 per month (206-watt average), based on 5 hours of daily use at $0.13 kWh (a local average on the West Coast), is very good for a 52-inch LCD TV--enough to earn it GreenTech Approved status. The set beat out the same-size Editors\' Choice Samsung LN52A750, which managed a respectable result of $4.46 per month (223W average). For more on this HDTV, read the full review at PCMag.com.
