| At a slight 1.9 inches think, the 46-inch Samsung LN46A850 ($2,599.99 list) is the company\'s thinnest HDTV yet. What\'s more, the LN46A850\'s colors are brilliantly accurate, its video black inky-dark, and its reproduction of standard- and high-definition sources admirably detailed. And the LN46A850 is loaded with useful extras, including support for network streaming of multimedia content. All in all, it\'s a tempting--and competitively priced--slim-cabinet television. And did we mention its incredible efficiency?
Power consumption among LCD televisions has been on a steady decline since the introduction of the latest Energy Star standards late last year. The LN46A850\'s estimated operating cost of $3.74 per month (187 watts average) using its default picture setup (based on 5 hours of daily use at $0.13 per kWh) is quite good when compared with the estimated cost of $5.18 per month (260W average) for the similar-size Sony KDL-46Z4100. Larger LED-lit screens can deliver even more impressive efficiency: The 55-inch Samsung LN55A950, for example, costs $3.63 per month to run (181W average).
